RED DRAGON FLEXING MUSCLES AS TIGER LOOKS ON
INTRODUCTION
China proved once again, as feared by the whole world, UNTRUSTWORTHY, with its treacherous foreign policy towards India, as the red dragon bared its ugly fangs to reveal its ulterior motives towards its friendly neighbour- India. As the history stands proof, India had been always extending an olive leaf to our aggressive neighbour- China, since Independence. However, China always pretended to be a trusted neighbour and most of the times, betrayed our trust. China kept on gnawing our territories, since 60s and raised false claims over the border areas. China exploited our goodwill, took advantage of our national policy of peaceful co-existence, and gained control of vast territories of Akshi Chin territory.
CHINA'S FRESH CLAIMS
China has thrown a spanner into the machine of peace negotiations, by stating that it doesn't recognise the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu & Kashmir and declaration of Ladakh as a Union Territory, sending shock waves among the world media.
China hardened its stand again by proclaiming that, it abides by the LAC as proposed by Premier Zhou Enlai, to our Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru in a letter dated 7 November, 1959. In New Delhi, the Ministry of External Affairs refuted the Chinese claim - “India has never accepted the so-called "unilaterally defined" 1959 LAC. This position has been consistent and well known, including to the Chinese side." Furthermore, MEA spokesperson Anurag Srivastava stated-" under their various bilateral agreements including the 1993 agreement on Maintenance of Peace and Tranquillity along the LAC ,1996 Agreement on Confidence Building Measures ( CBMs) in the military fields, 2005 Protocol on implementation of CBMs 2005 Agreement on Political parameters and Guiding Principles for Settlement of India- China Boundary Questions, both India and China have committed to clarification of the LAC to reach a common understanding of the alignment of LAC."
Significantly our Defence Minister recently made a statement in Parliament that it’s the Chinese, by its attempts to transgress the LAC in various parts of the Western Sector and never India tried such stunts".
China clarified its opposition regarding Ladakh’s new status as Union Territory and raised serious concerns about its intention of finding a peaceful solution to the present face -off between the Asian giants. China further expressed its serious concern about the current volatile situation in Kashmir. Beijing said in a statement in response to media queries, that the Indian government's move to revoke the powers of Article 370 was not favourably taken by its communist government.
Earlier on July 26, 2019, China had said that India and Pakistan should peacefully settle the Kashmir issue and other disputes through dialogue.
Asking India and Pakistan to exercise restraint, China stated that they should avoid actions that "unilaterally" change the status quo and exacerbate tensions between them as it voiced "serious concern" over the situation in Kashmir.
New Delhi appropriately responded. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said, "India does not comment on the internal affairs of other countries and similarly expects other countries to do likewise."
If we recall the reaction of China to our bifurcation of J& K and Ladakh to UTs, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying in Beijing had said that the issue is a legacy of history between India and Pakistan, which is also the consensus of the international Community.
On July 26, 2019 China had said that India and Pakistan should peacefully settle the Kashmir issue and other disputes through dialogue and expressed its support to the international community, including the US, in playing a "constructive role" to improve ties between the two countries.
Over the years, China's official stand on Kashmir has been that it is an issue left over by history and should be properly addressed by India and Pakistan through consultation and negotiations.
In a separate statement, the Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson objected to the formation of Ladakh as Union Territory highlighting China's claims over the area.
India and China have 3,488-km long Line of Actual Control (LAC) between them. The two countries have held 21 rounds of Special Representatives talks so far to resolve the boundary issues.
CONCLUSION
Beijing's latest remarks reflect a hardened stance aiming to escalate the present tensions between the two nations. Hopes of an early settlement of the Ladakh crisis are fast receding and it seems that the two armies will have to keep their troops in the harsh cold deserts throughout this winter, braving sub-zero conditions. China ,with its one child state policy, till now is facing lot of flake from the common people of China since, most of the children of this generation had been forcefully recruited in to PLA, to maintain its formidable status as the largest Army in the world. The Chinese people are reported to be pissed off that their single child is being forced to fight an avoidable war, when the nation’s honour and sovereignty of China is not under threat. War clouds are looming fast in the horizons of India and China, in spite of feverish attempts to forge a ceasefire and bonhomie between the two Asian giants. October month of 2020, is another crucial month for India, along with our war against COVID Pandemic.
